GPAC strives to employ trained and untrained staff of both genders covering different ages and backgrounds. This facilitates a range of ways to build relationships with children and families. All GPAC staff must pass the Working With Children Check and the service imbeds a culture of transparency to protect all stakeholders.

My favourite thing to do when I was a child was...
Making up clubs with the neighbourhood kids.
I also enjoyed sport and drawing.

3 reasons why I like working with children...
I like getting to know children, I like their openness and honesty, I like playing a part in their discovery of learning something new.

My Funniest/Best/Most memorable GPAC moment
My most memorable time was helping some of the boys put the “Bear Grills” afternoon together. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun for everyone.

I've been a Shire girls ever since migrating to Australia

Experience in working with children so far...
I have been working in child care ever for 6 years. I previously worked with children under 5 years old but since beginning my degree in Primary Education, I have found a passion for integrating play-based activities with school aged children. I hope to extend my learning while integrating my past experiences of play based learning and applying them within a fun and exciting environment.

My favourite thing to do when I was a child was... 

My fondest memories of when I was little was climbing this massive fig tree that stood outside my house, riding my bike on the beach and sliding down a hill in a box...a very outdoors girl!

3 reasons why I like working with children...
I love the learning behind child development. I love continuing to learn and challenging my own knowledge. The relationships that are built during my time with children has been something I really value and I love how I've been involved in a child's learning whether it be through experiences, friendships or wonderful play opportunities. Seeing a chuild grow is truly rewarding.

My favourite thing to do after school when I was a child was...

I grew up on acreage with nothing behind our house except the bush, lake and beach so I spent all my time riding motorbikes, driving race cars and riding horses. Restrictions have obviously changed over the years since I was a child...

3 Reasons why I like to work with children at GPAC... 

  1. Love that I can be invoklved in the Grays Point community and give back.
  2. I love watching the children be so creative and having fun as they grow.
  3. Also, I love how you never know where the childrens imagination is going to lead to everyday...You never know what they are going to say or tell you, and just listening to them laugh!

I have had a weeks’ work experience at GPAC in 2013. I have assisted Tracy McCall while she was working as a Children’s Minister at Gymea Anglican. I have completed my Cert IV OOSH traineeship with GPAC in 2016 and have been employed with GPAC since 2014.

My favourite thing to do after school when I was a child was…
I enjoyed playing sports, both soccer and hockey
I enjoyed painting
I enjoyed reading and watching cartoons

3 Reasons why I like to work with children at GPAC...
The kids are great to be around, their honest humour is always hilarious.
Being able to work outdoors enjoying the games I loved as a child.
Being apart of the next generation of Grays Point kids coming through and having the opportunity to be a mentor figure for some kids going into high school.

My name is: Nicole Giezekamp 
I grew up in: a small village in Bavaria, Germany
I now live in: Grays Point

Experience in working with children so far:
I started working at Activity Centre in 2006, in 2007 I completed my Cert IV in OOSH and had been the Co-ordinator from 2008 - 2018. 

My favourite thing to do when I was a child was:
Putting on my gumboots and going for an explore around the village with my friends and my cat. We buried treasure and dead mice, built dams, climbed on trees, went up the church tower before it struck the full hour, skied and ice skated, walked on stilts, ..

3 reasons why I like working with children:

  1. My favourite thing is seeing children use their imagination and what they can create
  2. I love teaching them about the environment and being able to support their play in nature
  3. My vision is to give them a place they love coming to that meets their needs and interests and is fun to be at

My Funniest/Best/Most memorable GPAC moment
One of my favourite moments was one afternoon when we spontaneously made banana bread, sat around the table and sang songs. It felt like being a big (German) family.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

My name is: Jacky Bateman 
I grew up in: Grays Point
I now live in: Grays Point

Experience in working with children so far:
This is my first job working with children. I come from a background of health and nutrition but decided to settle into a job that is more compatible with my new lifestyle since becoming a mum. 

My favourite thing to do when I was a child was:
Riding my bike, going for swims down at Swallow Rock and playing with the neighbourhood kids.

3 reasons why I like working with children:

  1. Since becoming a mum, I love watching children learn through play.
  2. I love the imagination and creativity children have. It's inspiring.
  3. Working with kids, specifically at GPAC, the atmosphere is filled with fun, energy and laughter.

I have two years of experience working with children at Primary and High School ages through leading in my local youth group. I was also, through Kirrawee High School, involved in the ACYP (Advocate for Children and Young People).

My favourite thing to do after school when I was a child was... 
When I was at primary school my favourite thing to do after school was play in the bush with my friends and make movies.

3 Reasons why I like working with children

  1. I love seeing the kids grow up and mature as the years progress.
  2. I get a sense of great joy in seeing the kids play, laugh and participate in games and other activities.
  3. Selfishly, I love being able to be a kid again as I not only lead them in the activities but also participate alongside them which is great fun for all.

I now live in: Grays Point. I have lived here for 40 years.

I have been an Infants teacher for over 30 years as well as teaching Reading Recovery and ESL.

climbing trees and playing with friends as well as reading.

I have taught many dance lessons (in jazz, tap and as well as some classes for Physical culture), I babysit from time to time as well as getting experience from studying teaching at University.

Experience in working with children so far..

I have had work experience in child care during my high schooling years. I have baby sitting for family friends and younger relatives in the past. I have completed practical experience in a primary school setting and currently high school settings as I am studying to become a Secondary teacher.

My favourite thing to do after school when I was a child was…

I enjoyed being outside with friends and neighbours. Living close to the beach and next door to a park, I enjoyed being outside afterschool and playing with friends and neighbours. I have always enjoyed a variety of sports activities; oztag, netball and dancing were included into after school activities.

1.I love how children are so enthusiastic which never fails to brighten up your mood or day.

2.They are always intrigued and eager to learn new things, which I personally think inspires us as teachers.
