People Lead & Floor Manager – Grays Point Activity Centre

Part-time (4 or 5 days/week – 30 hours)
Fixed term contract : Jan 2026 – April 2027 | �� Above Award hourly rate + up to 15% WRG Increase

Are you an organised, people-focused leader who thrives in early childhood settings? We're looking for a People Lead & Floor Manager to support our team, guide daily operations, and help create a warm and welcoming space for children and families.

What We Offer

Above Award Pay
Eligible for the Workforce Retention Grant (WRG) – up to 15% pay increase until 30 November 2026
Flexible working options – choose 4 or 5 weekdays (up to 30 hours/week). Potential to do more hours if you wish.
Over ratioed rosters
No external or ‘on call’ Educators
Role includes a minimum of 7 set shifts during term time with the children of:
Morning: 7:00am–8:45am
Afternoon: 3:15pm–6pm
Additional non-contact hours for admin & leadership duties
We open School Holidays and Pupil Free Days for Vacation Care 7:30am to 6pm so your hours will vary during these days. You can request your shifts around your availability, and we close Fridays during Vacation Care.
Christmas shutdown period 20th December 2025 to 7th January 2026.
Fixed-term role from now or January 13th 2026 to April 2027.
Future roles possible after contract ends.
Subsidised Child Care fees at our Centre for eligible school-aged children during term time and Vacation Care.
We operate out of our beautiful aesthetic big purpose built building on the Grays Point School site.
Must work closely with the Centre Manager and Educational Leader (EL) to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and care and a professional Centre.

Core Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Education and Care Services National Regulations, and the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.

Provide a safe, healthy, and educational environment where the wellbeing of children is paramount.

Lead, support, and develop a high-performing team through active mentoring, guidance, and performance discussions.

Support and assist GPAC in achieving and maintaining it’s standards of excellence and continued success.

Collaborate with the leadership team to uphold and strengthen our culture of high-quality care and service.

Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with parents, children, and staff.

Create and manage structured team rosters to ensure adequate shift coverage and staff accountability.

Lead and support staff during key floor shifts, promoting effective teamwork and smooth daily operations.

Share the responsibilities of the Responsible Person.

Oversee and ensure completion of daily cleaning duties and operational checklists.

Conduct monthly First Aid audits and accuracy of Incident and Injury Forms.

About You

Confident leader with strong people skills
Well spoken, highly organised, great communication skills, energetic and proactive
Experience in early childhood and/or a team focused environment
Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential
Full driver’s licence and own vehicle required due to our location
Working with Children Check
Police check or can apply for a clear record prior to commencing

Biggest Morning Tea

GPAC is excited to announce we will be hosting Australia's Biggest Morning Tea on Wednesday 15 June 2022!

AUSTRALIA’s BIGGEST MORNING TEA - CASH ONLY EVENT!

GPAC will be hosting the Biggest Morning Tea again! After a very successful year last year, raising close to $1000 we hope to raise just as much as last year.

WHEN: Wednesday 15 June 2022, 7am – 9am during Before School Care.

WHATS ON OFFER: GPAC Staff will be cooking Bacon and Egg rolls, toasties and offering sweet treats. Barista Thomas (GPAC Secretary) will be serving tea, coffees and hot chocolates. We encourage you to bring your keep cups!

You can take it to work with you on the run or stay and have a catch up with other families on the veranda.

Please look out for the posters around the Centre informing you about the event. There will also be QR codes on each poster allowing you to easily donate for your phone.

We look forward to seeing all your lovely faces on Wednesday morning!

DONATIONS WELCOME: Are you, your work, your business able to donate an item towards our Cancer Council raffle?

We are asking for donations towards prizes at our Biggest Morning Tea we are hosting next Wednesday morning. We will advertise your business on the day in as much detail as you wish.

If you are a small business owner or your work can support us, please drop in anything to GPAC (or we can pick up) you can assist with towards the fundraising. We will even compile and gift wrap items if that helps.

July 2022 Vacation Care - opens Monday 6 June 2022

Dear GPAC families,

We are excited to announce our July 2022 Vacation Care Program is now available on our website !

We invite you to view all information about our upcoming program and complete your child’s Vacation Care Booking Form via the Vacation Care section on our website.

Please return your child’s Vacation Care booking form in person at drop off or pick up or via admin@gpactivitycentre.org . Our staff also have paper copies of the Vacation Care forms available for families to collect when visiting the Centre if this is a more convenient option.

Vacation Care bookings open: Monday 6 June 2022

Vacation Care bookings close: 4pm, Friday 17 June 2022
Any booking forms submitted after 4pm on Friday 17 June 2022 will incur a $30.00 late booking fee.

Vacation Care confirmations will be sent from Monday 20 June 2022 and fees for Vacation Care are due in full by Friday 24 June 2022.

A friendly reminder, if your Term 2 fees are not paid before the due date (10 June), we may not be able to accept your Vacation Care booking form until your Term 1 statement is paid in full. As there is a pupil free day this upcoming Vacation Care on Monday 18 July 2022, this booking day will be included on your Term 3 statement account and will not be included within your Vacation Care statement.

We would also like to remind families of the daily requirements when your child is enrolled for Vacation Care.

Please ensure your child has the following items each day:

lunch

hat
comfortable clothing covering your child’s shoulders
comfortable enclosed walking shoes

Increase in Viral Illnesses

Increase in viral illnesses

NSW Health is seeing a steep rise in respiratory viruses affecting children attending early childhood education and care services.

This includes influenza (also known as 'flu'), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19.

These illnesses are contagious and can spread easily between young children, especially in early childhood education and care services, where children learn and play in close contact with each other. Young children who get the flu may be infectious for longer and spread it to adults.

GPAC has been advised to take steps to protect staff, visitors and the children at our Centre by:

• Remind parents to keep any sick children at home. Staff and visitors who are sick should also stay away from the workplace.

• Clean hands often and supervise young children when washing their hands or if using hand sanitiser. Play together where there’s fresh air, if possible.

• Practise good hygiene and display hand hygiene signage.

• Stay up to date with COVID-19 and flu vaccinations and display the children’s flu vaccine poster.

Food, tea and coffee etc are for purchase however we will accept any donations also to this worthy cause. We hope to also have raffles and other fun!

GPAC Fee increase - 1 July 2022

Fee increase at GPAC from 1 July 2022

Dear GPAC Families,

Grays Point Activity Centre is a proudly run community based, not-for-profit Outside School Hours Care Centre. To maintain or exceed our current ratings and standards of care, as well as keeping our wonderful Centre and the activities and programs updated and maintain such an incredible staffing team as well as maintenance of our building, GPAC will be increasing child care fees for each session from 1st July 2022. Before and After School sessions (permanent and casual) will increase by $1 per session and Vacation Care and Pupil Free Day sessions will increase by $1 per day.

Session fees have not been increased for a few years now, however there has been an impact in increase in costings including resources, contractors, cleaning and insurances.

Fee schedule from 1st July 2022:

Before School Care:

Permanent - $21

Casual - $24

After School Care:

Permanent - $25.50

Casual - $28.50

Pupil Free Day & Vacation Care:

$58 per day

$63 per day for bookings made after closing date

Fees are reduced by any Child Care Subsidy you may receive and GPAC will invoice you the ‘gap fee’ only.Families may also be able to apply the $500 BASC voucher per child off their fees.

April 2022 Vacation Care bookings open Monday 14 March 2022!

Dear GPAC families,

We are excited to let you know our April 2022 Vacation Care Program is ready!

Vacation Care bookings open on Monday 14 March 2022 and close at 4pm on Friday 25 March 2022.

Please visit our website (underneath the Vacation Care section) to locate our Vacation Care Booking Form.

If you would like to collect a paper copy from the Centre, you can advise the GPAC staff upon arrival and collection of your child and we will bring a copy out to the gate for you to collect.

2022 Kindergarten children are eligible to also attend Vacation Care, please ensure the centre has all your child's enrolment forms and an orientation visit has occurred before their first day of attendance.

Flood Donation

GPAC is accepting donations for flood victims

Hi families

It breaks our hearts to see the devastation and destruction that the floods in Queensland and Northern NSW have caused. GPAC would like to become a donation drop off point to our wonderful community that we have here, and to support and assist those that have been affected.

We will be taking any kind of your donations e.g. food, clothing, toys, games, school supplies, homewares, electronics, cleaning supplies, sanitary items, baby formula, nappies, gloves etc. We just ask that it needs to be something the staff can ‘lift’ on their own, so nothing bulky or household furniture items please. It also needs to fit in our cars !

GPAC will then arrange for our communities' donations to be dropped off to the next collection point so it can be transported to those in need up North as quickly as possible.

Thank you as always as we anticipate your support.

We will cease collection on the 17 ^th March 2022.

Service NSW $500 BASC Voucher

Service NSW $500 BASC Voucher

Dear Families,

As you may be aware the NSW Government has released a $500 Before and After School Care (BASC) Voucher for NSW families. To assist our families we are excited to announce Grays Point Activity Centre (GPAC) has successfully been approved to accept BASC Vouchers. The BASC Voucher can be utilised to pay for your child’s gap fee (amount parents pay after CSS has been applied) or full fee (if family does not receive CCS).

Department of Education (DoE) and Service NSW are expecting Centres to implement several new steps and procedures to confirm the authorisation and use of the Voucher, this includes a manual entry of data on an excel spreadsheet following the individual sessions your child has attended, which is to be submitted at the end of each Term. This means that we will not be able to receive Voucher payments from the NSW Government until after the reconciled period following your child’s physical attendance.

GPAC Management Committee and Staff have provided the below guidelines to assist families as to how the Voucher will work for our Centre, these are also subject to change as the BASC Voucher program rolls out:

Parent BASC Voucher Agreement – this must be completed by the parent who receives the CCS for your family, also providing authorisation for your family information included on the agreement to be shared with Services NSW and Department of Education on your behalf of receiving the $500 BASC Voucher for your family.
Parents will need to email through the BASC Voucher – we will only be accepting an email/ PDF copy along with a complete and signed copy of the Parent BASC Voucher Agreement
Term 1 fees must be paid in full as previously issued on your statement, by Friday 18th of March 2022, for your family to be eligible for the BASC voucher to be applied. The voucher will not be applied to any Term 1 fees. Vouchers will not be accepted from families with accounts in arrears as the voucher does not cover previous periods of care utilised.
Once we submit Term 1 attendances to Centrelink, we understand this is when the Centre will receive your Voucher payment for Term 1 attendances, which will enable your account to become in a credit for Term 2.

Please read the FAQ below to help assist in understanding what the rollout of these Vouchers will look like for GPAC families who are interesting in utilising the Voucher.

Who Can Apply?

Families with children enrolled in a before and after school care service ages of 4 to 13 years that attend a primary school in NSW can receive a $500 voucher per child, this includes children who are starting kindergarten in 2022.

New families are welcome to join GPAC and use their voucher once their account and membership is established.

How can I apply?

Apply for this voucher through your Service NSW app selecting the voucher tab. Once you have successfully applied and received your voucher, you are to email admin@gpactivitycentre.org your voucher. Our admin staff will then enter your code manually via the MyService NSW Business App. The voucher will then be valid to be used until June 30th 2023 and can be used for both Before and After School Care and Vacation Care. Please note, it is unclear yet when GPAC will receive the value of your Voucher, once received we will place the credit onto your families account.

When Can The Voucher Be Used?

These Vouchers can be used for services offered on any weekday during a school term, or during Vacation Care. The Voucher does not cover the costs for incursions, excursions or any additional fees, or those that CCS does not cover, only session fees. It cannot be used to cover the $50 membership fee.

When Can I Apply?

You can apply to Service NSW for a $500 BASC voucher from 28th February until 30th September 2022 and must be redeemed before 31st December 2022. Families will also need to complete the BASC Voucher Agreement to ensure the Service has all required information of your family to submit to NSW Government, Service NSW and Department of Education.

How Long Are They Valid For?

The BASC Vouchers can be used only at one centre and are valid until 30 June 2023. Redeemed by 31st December 2022.

What Happens When Care is Shared Between Separated Parents?
Under the BASC Voucher Program, only one voucher can be issued for each child. Service NSW states that it is encouraged for parents to come to an agreement in relation to how to use the voucher under their circumstances.

How GPAC Will Redeem These Vouchers?

As mentioned above there is a lengthy process to receive the BASC Voucher Payments, if you wish to utilise the Voucher you will need to continue to make payments toward your invoices until your BASC Voucher payment has been paid from NSW Government to GPAC.

Please note, we have not been advised how the Service will receive the Voucher payment on your behalf and need to continue to facilitate the running of our Service based on Centre fees, this means your account must be paid as per direction of GPAC admin staff.

Families will not be eligible to receive refunds on their Term 1 accounts once we receive the BASC voucher to your GPAC account, your payment to GPAC will become a continuous credit on your account until it has been exhausted and your account lists you have an amount due. GPAC will not be receiving the $500 as a lump sum. We will only get paid after care has been reconciled via CCS and we get the balance paid.

As you can imagine, we are truly grateful for our families to have the opportunity to receive this Voucher from the NSW Government. We hope from reading the information above you understand that this is a lengthy procedure and our Centre will continue to educate ourselves on the evolving requirements of this program and appreciate your kindness and support in navigating through this new manual procedure.

Vacation Care bookings open on Monday 15 November 2021 and close at 4pm on Friday 26 November 2021.

Philosophy : The statement of philosophy reflects the beliefs and values of the Service and falls under Quality Area 7 of the National Quality Standards.

Together with our ‘Approved Learning Framework’ a Centre philosophy assists educators in considering GPAC’s approach to learning, development and wellbeing. It should also underpin policies and procedures and guide all aspects of GPAC’s operations and practices.

Week 2 closure of September Vacation Care.

The committee and management of GPAC has made the decision to close at this stage, for one week of the upcoming school holiday Vacation Care period.

We will close Monday 27th September 2021 to and inclusive of Friday 1st October 2021 (and closed Monday 4th October Public Holiday).

We as parents understand that this may impact your care arrangements for this week, however hope with the 8 weeks prior notice you may be able to make alternative arrangements for care of your children.

I hope you can appreciate that GPAC has continued to remain open and operating throughout these pandemic times. As we are a not for profit Centre, we are here for you and the community. As circumstances are at the moment, the decision to close for one week of the holidays was not made lightly, but was made so that we can continue to operate in the long term as a viable business for the greater community.

At this present stage we are planning to operate :

Monday 20th September 2021 to 24th September 2021 (7:30am - 6pm).

This may be reviewed upon enrolments. Booking forms for those dates will open in Week 6 of this term and we will ask for full payment then.

As with everything now we are reviewing constantly and reassessing the risks. If you have any concerns please reach out to the Centre Manager Karen.

About Educators Day....

This year, we will be celebrating the NSW OOSH Educators’ Day on Wednesday 28th July 2021 .

OOSH Educator day provides an occasion to acknowledge all the invaluable work OOSH Educators do everyday with children and families. OOSH Educators are often at the centre of children’s lives, building trusting and long-term relationships with children well into adulthood. They can have a truly life-changing impact on children, acting as inspirational educators, role-models and mentors.

It’s time to give a shout out to all the great OOSH Educators for their work and to make them feel valued in the profession.

Now, more than ever before, it’s vital that we all realise OOSH Educators do far more than care for children: they are a significant contributor to a local school community.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing small recordings about our Educational Team and their personal philosophy and visions of being an Educator. You can meet our team and see the recordings on our Facebook page .

We wanted to check in with you and let you know we have been following the lockdown guidelines set for Greater Sydney as we transition into school term and will continue to support our families as we have throughout the COVID-19 period of 2020 and 2021.

As most of you are aware, Gladys Berejiklian has announced today that stay at home orders will stay in place for Greater Sydney until Friday 16 July 2021 and Schools will remain open for families who are unable to complete online-learning from home.

To support our Service with planning for the amendments required, we kindly request ALL families reply via email confirmation:

GPAC's Philosophy and Goals for your review

Please find below GPAC’s amended Philosophy for your review, amendments and feedback. All OOSH Services are required to have a Philosophy. GPAC’s has not been reviewed for some time and we have been working with the staff and community volunteers on the review of ours.

We also got your feedback through the recent family survey and your feedback forms that were on the veranda.

An inclusive Philosophy will guide our policies, pedagogy and practices and influence the decisions GPAC makes on a daily basis. It needs to reflect the beliefs and values of our families and the community.

The capital letters on the Philosophy promote our values and the second page we also have established four new goals.

Would you mind taking a few moments to review our new Statement of Philosophy and send through your feedback or amendments, as we want to agree on a concise statement of what management, committee and the staff at GPAC intend on accomplishing.

Changes to drop off and pick up during Vacation Care

Good morning Vacation Care families

With the latest lockdown restrictions, at this stage, we will be operating for Vacation Care.

All excursions and incursions have been cancelled and we create a new program to plan around those Centre days.

No parent will be allowed in school grounds, please phone us from the gate for drop off and pick up. Do not call your child or their friends over to the gate and do not allow your child to walk in on their own. We need handover and documented times. Please make sure you have our number in your phones : 0427 741779

Parents must wear masks with any interaction with our staff. Educators masks still remain non mandatory.

Please, please be patient and kind with our staff. We are working through our resources and Department or health notifications the best we can, with whatever information we know. As an essential service we are still required to work. All our staff live in the Sutherland Shire. We are making amendments to our rosters and planning and decisions about our personal families and lockdown as well so please work with us to keep everyone safe and as always we will provide a great fun day for your children.

We are working through any emails you have sent over the weekend regarding your bookings and will reply today or tomorrow.

We have not been advised to date of any fee relief. If you amend your booking days a $10 admin fee will apply to each request. Excursion and incursions fees that you have previously paid will be credited back to your GPAC account.

Inflatable World Excursion Cancelled

Dear GPAC Families,

Sadly, due to to current COVID-19 situation escalating, the GPAC Management Committee has made the decision not to go ahead with the excursion to Inflatable World on Tuesday 29th June.

GPAC will still be operating from 7.30am until 6pm on this day and we still have a fun, filled day planned with a Onsie and Pizza Party Day.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a refund for the session fee, however your CCS rebate will still apply. The $20 additional cost for the excursion will be credited back to your account should you wish to cancel care on this date.

If you are booked into the Zone Bowling excursion on Wednesday 7th July, we will advise families whether we are able to go ahead with the excursion by 2nd July pending the Bowling Centre's Covid Risk Assessment.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and we hope that we can attend Inflatable World on another date under safer circumstances.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please view a short video of Kate Foster (Treasurer) and myself, Justine Williams, (President and Secretary) giving you a little snapshot into the GPAC Committee. I understand that it was mentioned at the GPPS meet the teacher’s nights that the Committee has positions that needed to be filled in order for GPAC to continue in its present capacity. The fact of matter is that as a not-for-profit community based run OOSH we are legally required to have certain positions on the Committee in place.

Kate and I have been on the committee for 6 years and during that tenure have held a variety of positions. It is now time to pass the mantle on to new blood. The positions that must be filled are: President, Treasurer and Secretary. Karen will shortly be sending out the updated Job Descriptions for each of these roles.

Both myself and Kate will be finally resigning from our positions at the next AGM on the 24 ^th March 2021. We are happy to discuss any questions that you may have in relation to this prior to the AGM and will be available to assist with a handover for the next couple of months.

Please contact Karen (Centre Manager) if you would like to obtain the contact details for either myself or Kate to arrange a coffee catch up to discuss via a group setting. The GPAC Committee is a great opportunity for you to be involved in the decisions that affect your children.

This Vacation Care Grays Point Activity Centre will be bringing the travelling to you!

Come and join us as we travel through these iconic “HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS”

Grays Point Activity Centre will be operating Vacation Care in the January 2021 School holidays for the students enrolled at Grays Point Public School in 2021.

If your child is enrolled in Kindergarten for 2021 at Grays Point Public School they are welcome to register for our January Vacation Care program. We will arrange an orientation to the Centre prior to their first day attending Vacation Care.

Our program is filled with exciting activities, excursions, incursions, theme days and workshops focusing on recreational programs and a lot of fun.

Our experienced and friendly Educators provide a safe, caring and exciting environment for school aged children.

Bookings open: Friday 13 November 2020

Booking close: Friday 27 November 2020, 4pm, unless spots are filled prior to this date.

A late booking fee of $30 applies after 4pm on the 27 November 2020, subject to availability and an increased daily fee of $62 per child.

January 2021 Vacation Care Program and Enrolment Form is located on our Vacation Care web page.

Please note: Care is allocated according to the Australian Government’s Priority of Access guidelines. The Centre will not open unless minimum bookings are received and confirmed.

A confirmation email of care confirming dates will be issued from the 30 November 2020, we will then send you a Vacation Care invoice.

Vacation Care will be billed separately to your ‘regular’ Before and After School Care. It is noted that only after your payment has been received, that your booking is confirmed. Vacation Care Bookings will not be accepted from families with fees in arrears.
