Taylissa's Philosophy: I view that my role as an Educator is to support children in their self-learning skills as well as assist in ensuring they are safe, secure and supported through their school age journey. I believe my role is to be their friend and create relationships where knowledge sharing and communication between myself and the child can always be done.
I value the individuality and uniqueness of each child and love learning about the little things that make them who they are and who they will become in the future. I value that I can be a role model to children in expressing themselves and encourage the positive views on how we are all different. I want to enforce that I am adult in their lives that encourages and creates that Fun, “silly play” as well as demonstrates bringing them back down to earth in situations when it is needed.
I believe that Play is the foundation of an OOSH Service and allows children to make choices as well as practice and develop new skills and knowledge. I hope for children to achieve a sense of belonging and self confidence through the skills and learning that can be provided in an out of school hours Service.
I hope to create a welcoming and safe place for children. I think that the creation of space should provide an atmosphere of being warm and appealing, as well offering structured areas for children to approach and engage in play without being overwhelmed. I want them to feel like it is a place when they can come to Play, relax, feel comfortable, excel in development and create strong relationships with peers and Educators. I believe there should be an expectation to create an environment where the Educator to Educator interaction is friendly and wholesome to role model the connections that are encouraged within the Service.
I believe that building strong relationships with families is significant in the well-being and development of a child and believe that working together with families encourages children to engage in opportunities for self-discovery, environmental awareness and social and emotional growth.
